charter vessel KLM Helena Many divers come to Raja Ampat to share the ocean with the big fish... any small thing that we can do to preserve the habitat for the sharks and rays will help this area to remain at the top of the favorite places list for the world dive community. |

Founder, Project FIN, Singapore You may be affecting the tourist dollars coming in to Raja Ampat - Don't cause damage to your potential tourism income! Protect the locals by secure their long term livelihood - shark finning can ONLY be a short term source of income as shark populations can be quickly depleted! Moreover, shark finning will only benefit certain businesses. Please consider providing the locals with long term security by showcasing the biodiversed dive sites at Raja Ampat and profit from tourism! |

Heart Broken In Canada It really hurts when my favourite animal on the planet is going nearly extinct. People in Raja, please listen to those on this site. Stop destroying your home, and just leave those beloved sharks be. They play a huge part in keeping the islands clean and under control. If they are all killed off, you would be dealing with huge disasters. So please if you want to think of yourselves atleast think of what you'd be getting yourself into if you continue this. |

True words from French Polynesia. Laws : Ok. Application : undone French Polynesia : In front Gov protects Oceans. One reserve : FAKARAVA. Marine : 2 564 km2 ; ground : 118 km2. When whole French Polynesia is made of 2.500.000 km2 ocean ! ((, entre 7°50' S (Motu One) et 27°36' S (Rapa) et 134°28'W (Temoe))) et 154°40' W (Scilly))) uncontrolled or so area. Police or army act when fishers report, besides once a year mediatic campain. Laws : ok since 2003 Reality : Not enough police or so. No direct action. No ocean police with boats. Greenpeace and Seashephed: Missing. |
