Shark Savers masthead
Research on sharks and enforcement of fishing regulations
Shark Savers' programs focus on awareness and education about shark conservation. But, there are other ways to be involved in shark conservation.

You may want to participate in an research expedition to tag and study sharks. Some of the organizations listed on our links page could provide you with that opportunity. You may even want to study to become a marine biologist or environmentalist, although we probably can't advise you, there.

Enforcement of shark fishing regulations, especially in marine protected areas, is a critically underserved area. We try to support enforcement where we can, but if you wanted to do more you could see how you can participate in enforcement efforts in your country. There may be opportunities to be a spotter in a protected area. There is a marine conservation organization called Sea Shepherd that conducts its own enforcement activities, although not all of these involve sharks. You might consider joining one of their expeditions.
