sharksaversteamsharkstanley.pngShark Savers is thrilled to partner with the Pew Environment Group and Shark Defenders for a growing grassroots initiative created by graduate students from Yale University that aims to raise awareness about shark conservation on the international stage.

The concept is simple: mobilize youth support for shark and manta ray conservation by creating a visual petition that will be presented at the upcoming Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) meeting in March 2013, Bangkok, Thailand.

There are proposals for three shark species (scalloped hammerhead shark, porbeagle shark, and oceanic whitetip shark) and the two species of manta rays on the table for Appendix II listing, and we need to do everything we can to ensure the representatives vote to protect these animals. Shark Stanley can help us by visually demonstrating the passionate support across the globe for these much-needed additional protections for sharks.

The goal is to have at least 5,000 photos from all 176 CITES countries!

Want to help Shark Stanley make it around the world? It’s simple, here’s how:

sharkstanleycutout.png1. Print this picture of Stanley, cut it out, and take a photo with him anywhere (at your school, underwater, atop a mountain; be creative and have fun!)

2. Then upload the photo along with your name and where you're from (upload to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and/or Instagram tagged with @SharkDefenders, #SharkStanley, and the country where you live i.e. #USA, #Fiji, #Brazil, etc).

3. Share this message with all your friends!!

The team is compiling your global photos and sending them to governments voting on CITES protections! Help us reach our goal to collect >5000 photos from all 176 CITES countries!”

THANK YOU!
