SharkCount_LOGO2012-1-75_in.pngThis weekend, March 2-3, divers all across South Florida can participate in a SharksCount Mega-Weekend, with three of our partner diver operators/charters running SharksCount dives, open to ALL DIVERS. And if you are up for still more shark action, you can join Shark Savers staff and acclaimed photographer, Chris Gug at the grand opening of his gallery too! Details for all of these events are listed below and we hope to see you there!

SATURDAY, MARCH 2, 2013, 9 AM, JUPITER

Join Capt Sl8r Charters for their 2nd monthly SharksCount Dive

9:00 a.m.  2-tank boat dive departs Square Grouper Bar and Marina, 1111 Love Street, Jupiter FL (R/V Kyalami)

Capt Sl8r and his team will provide waterproof Shark ID sheets to reference and will catalog all your shark sightings. You might be in his cool daily video too!

GUG Underwater Gallery & Shark Savers Benefit Opening

7:00 p.m. at 1519 E. Commercial Blvd., Fort Lauderdale FL

World-renowned underwater photographer, Chris Gug, is hosting a benefit for Shark Savers at Gug Underwater, his new gallery in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. This event will showcase Gug’s stunning underwater photography while raising awareness about shark conservation issues. This event combines the visualization of the majesty and fragility of our global ocean’s creatures and habitats with the science and advocacy of Shark Savers’ programs.

 Shark Savers staff and volunteers will be onsite to speak on behalf of the programs that are effecting real change in the fight to save sharks and rays, such as SharksCount, I’m FINished with FINs and Manta Ray of Hope. All are welcome to attend to learn more about sharks, shark conservation, and our programs from those who run them. Take a chance with a raffle and watch one of our latest conservation short films!

 Food and drinks will be provided, donations are suggested at the door and raffle tickets will beon sale for a chance to win an item by Gug. A portion of the proceeds from all sales that evening will be donated to Shark Savers.

Join Force-E Divers for their SharksCount Presentation & Dives

11:00 a.m. Shark Savers’ Hannah Medd will give a Shark Savers’ presentation about conservation at the Force-E Riviera store (optional & FREE)

12:15 p.m. Break for Lunch

12:45 p.m. Check-in for dive at Jim Abernethy’s Scuba Adventures, 216 N. Federal Highway, Rivera Beach FL

1:30 p.m. Join Hannah and the Force-E Team on a 2-tank afternoon dive to look for and log shark sightings at popular sites like Shark Canyon. (Lake Park Marina, R/V Deep Obsession)

Cost: $65 per diver, including tax. Divers should be experienced and be comfortable with drift diving in 60' to 90' depths. Space is limited.

10:00 a.m.  Shark Savers’ Samantha Whitcraft will give a Florida sharks ID presentation (optional & FREE)

11:45 a.m.  Break for Lunch

12:45pm:  Check-in at the dock, Lake Park Marina, Lake Park FL

1:30pm:  Trip departs (RV Sirena)

Cost: $120 per diver, which includes tanks, an exclusive t-shirt and a donation to the SharksCount program. Nitrox tanks are additional. Space is limited and reservations are a must!
