Remembering Ashley (Updated)

Ashley Krajca, a contributor to our blog for the South Florida Student Shark Program, died in a traffic acident on July 30th. We didn't know her well, other than her enthusiasm for sharks. However, two people who did know her well have posted comments on her blog entry. You can read her entry and the thoughts of her husband and one of her friends here.

Neil Hammerschlag, the Co-Director of the SFSSP, has provided information for Ashley's memorial service. It is this Saturday, August 8th at RSMAS,
beginning at noon.

The event will be a celebration of life, the details are as follows:

12:00pm - short Memorial service and a video in the

RSMAS Auditorium
Rosenstiel School

Miami, FL 33149-1098

12:45 - Celebration in the Commons with light food & drinks at RSAMS Wet Lab bar
Afternoon - RSMAS beach for use (bring swimsuit if desired)
Dress: Business casual

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to create a scholarship in Ashley's name to support students in shark conservation research. Check's can be made out to University of Miami. Please write "Ashley Kracja & Sharks" in the check's memo and mail it to Neil Hammerschlag, 4600 Rickenbacker Cswy, Miami Florida, 33149.
