Michael's interest in the oceans has been a recurring, if not consistent, theme in his life. As a child, he devoted much of his bedroom and allowance money to increasingly larger aquariums. He applied to college with the intention of becoming an oceanographer, although his other interests pulled him towards Communication Arts. In the early 80's, while working for advertising legend Alan Pottasch at Pepsi-Cola, he became a scuba diver. Mr. Pottasch had been an enthusiastic diver since the 1940's, before the days of scuba equipment, and was a NAUI diving instructor. Michael is grateful to Mr. Pottasch for introducing him to the undersea world and he has been diving ever since. His interest in sharks developed later, although an early close encounter with a regal and memorable shark helped set the stage for Shark Savers. Michael has a BA with Honors in Communication Arts from the University of Wisconsin. |

Michael Skoletsky is Director of Marketing and Communications for Shark Savers and is the editor-in-chief of its web site. Michael's career began as a teacher of Transcendental Meditation for the non-profit International Meditation Society, and worked closely with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi developing teacher-training and other video-based course materials. Later, his efforts shifted to marketing and advertising, working with Procter and Gamble, Pepsi-Cola, Coca-Cola, Revlon, and Digital Equipment Corporation. Later, Michael adapted his skills of marketing communications and team-building to interactive software development, the Internet, and customer experience. He did this first by founding a company called Panolog, where he was President. He later developed and led the Media & Entertainment practice at web development firm Viant and held management positions at Ingram & Company and Blast Radius. While at those firms, he led interactive and customer experience initiatives for Paramount Pictures, Warner Brothers, CNN, Time Inc, AOL, Meredith Interactive, RCI, PacifiCare, and others.
