R. Aidan Martin and Anne Martin of the ReefQuest Centre for Shark Research. R. Aidan Martin was the Director of the ReefQuest Centre for Shark Research, a Research Associate of the Zoology Department of the University of British Columbia, and an Adjunct Professor of the Oceanographic Center of Nova Southeastern University. Aidan died without warning on 13 February 2007. Aidan was internationally recognized as an expert in shark biology and behavior. The site that he created, Elasmo-Research, is one of the best out there for understanding shark diversity and evolution. It was used as a guiding source for the articles in Shark Savers relating to shark diversity and evolution. His wife, Anne, was kind enough to allow us to use Aidan's illustrations on this site and we thank her. And, of course, we thank Aidan for providing such an inspired body of work that so beautifully reveals the fascinating world of sharks. Please visit Elasmo-Research, which is being maintained in honor of Aidan's work, and in memory of his enthusiasm for, and his dedication to understanding and conserving sharks and rays.

Rob Stewart is the director of Sharkwater . If it were not for Sharkwater, we probably would have continued stumbling along in our lives merely being divers who like sharks, rather than joining together to start Shark Savers and try to be proactive in the saving of sharks. Rob has graciously provided us some of his photographs for use on the site, including the photographs of hammerhead schools that are currently in our masthead. Rob is also on the Shark Savers' Advisory Board.

Matt Potenski is a shark biologist and photographer who is doing some interesting work with Whale Sharks off of Tanzania. Matt has become our first guest blogger, describing his activity and life on the boat and with the Whale Sharks. He has also provided us some great pictures for use on our site. See Matt's Blog and Gallery .

Polina Reznikov is a compliance officer in an investment bank by day, and a diver and photographer the rest of the time. She is also a member of our dive club, Oceanblue Divers . Polina has been kind enough to provide us with some of her excellent photographs for use on Shark Savers.

Craig and Derrick of Reach and Teach were our co-conspirators in getting the Shark Savers site built. They run a company in San Francisco that helps non-profit companies get their message out and build and maintain their web sites. They did a great job in getting us launched on time with minimal problems and maximum fortitude.
