Get the word out!
Do you know about Sharkwater? Perhaps you've already seen it. Sharkwater is a feature documentary film about sharks that opens in many cities on November 2nd. It is also the most award-winning documentary of the year that broke box office records in Canada. It was director Rob Stewart's concept to create a beautiful film about sharks. But, in the course of five years of filming in 15 countries, Rob found the movie and his life taking on an unexpected dimension. Sharkwater evolved into a drama that reveals not only the beauty of sharks, but also the corruption, greed, and barbarity of the shark fin industry, intent on exploiting sharks to extinction for their valuable fins. Espionage, attempted murder charges, hospitalization, and mafia chases ensue. Sharkwater is powerful and engaging. At a minimum, it sharply changes one's attitude and sense of relationship to sharks. But, it's also hard to not walk out of the theater wanting to do something to save the sharks (at least it did for us). That's why we're eager for you to see Sharkwater, and also to invite your friends, family, and network to see it, as well. Here's what you can do:

Everybody says its a great movie but here in the UK distribution has been poor. I live near penzance in cornwall and I think there was one showing in plymouth which is two and a half hours drive which was the nearest to me. But the good news I heard was the movie is due to be released on DVD in May here in the UK. So pass the news on and get every one you know to buy a copy. dave |

My wife and I saw the movie in Sept. 2007. We also own the big table book and t-shirts. The movie is GREAT but has a bad marketing strategy. It should have been up for the Academy Awards. It started showing in Canada in spring 2007. Nobody can find the movie in their area. It jumps from city to city with no apparent consistency. We/they need to promote the hell out of this movie. And to non-divers most importantly. |
