An ancestor of the Great White shark had the most powerful bite on earth, scientists have found.

The colossal force of Carcharodon megalodon - also known as Big Tooth - made even Tyrannosaurus rex look puny.

Using sophisticated modelling techniques they have calculated that megalodon’s bite force was the highest of all time making it probably the most fearsome predator that ever existed.

Scientists used x-ray images generated by computer to reconstruct the skull, jaws and muscles of a 2.4 metre long male great white shark remodelling them as hundreds of thousands of tiny but connected parts.
