Charles Mandel HALIFAX - Many anglers catch-and-release trout; but in early July, Steve Campana was part of a team of researchers catching, tagging and releasing four-metre porbeagle sharks. Putting a satellite tag on a shark can be an "exciting exercise," Campana, a shark researcher, said Monday. Hooked and landed on the boat deck, the animal thrashes wildly. To calm it down, Campana and the others placed a wet cloth over the shark's eyes and then attached a saltwater hose to its mouth to pump salt water over the gills. |
