May 8, 2008 MARINE biologist and filmmaker Rob Stewart has taken shark conservation to a new level after diving into Sea World's shark tank without protective gear yesterday. In the past 30 years, shark numbers have dropped by 90 per cent, causing alarm to marine biologists across the world. Mr Stewart, from Canada, has recently directed, produced and starred in Sharkwater, a film that exposes the exploitation and corruption surrounding the world's shark populations. "Through my dive, I wanted to raise awareness of the decreasing shark populations and change people's perceptions of sharks," said Mr Stewart. |
